Kenyans Have So Far Contributed Ksh 4,120,000 Towards Bonga For Food

The latest data reveals that Kenyans have contributed up to 4,120,000 shillings towards the Bonga for Food Initiative by Safaricom and other partners.

Meanwhile, Safaricom has so far committed a sum of one hundred million shillings towards the project which has come in handy to cushion over 3.5 million Kenyans facing acute hunger in the Arid and Semi-Arid areas.

Through the ‘Pamoja Tuungane’ campaign, Safaricom and partners are calling upon all Kenyans to join in supporting the project through donations in form of Bonga points or cash.

To donate through Bonga Points:

  1. Dial *126# and select “Bonga for Food” where you can donate your Bonga Points
  2. You will then have the option to put any Bonga point amount or the specified Bonga points
  3. Once you have chosen your preferred option, you will be asked to input your Service PIN to complete the transaction.

For Cash donations, use PayBill 444777, regardless of your network.

The country’s largest supermarket chain, Naivas which is supplying the food hampers is also supporting the donation by providing free logistics. You can visit and buy their discounted Food Hampers.

Apart from the 20,000 families living in 23 Arid and Semi-Arid counties set to benefit from the fund, more affected counties will be added with time.

“Through your donation, we will be able to accomplish the goal of feeding our fellow citizens who are starving in parts of the country. Dial *126#, select Pamoja Tuungane to donate Bonga Points or cash. Safaricom has made a commitment of Ksh. 100 million,” said Safaricom.

‘Pamoja Tuungane’ campaign is aimed at rallying Kenyans to support those suffering from the effects of the prolonged drought in the country.

Safaricom and the M-PESA Foundation commits foodstuff donation worth over 100 million shillings to be distributed to some of the hardest-hit counties starting in Marsabit.
