The Kenyan shilling has continued with its weakening venture, weakening against the US Dollar, the British Pound, and the Euro according to the data collected on Tuesday.
The local currency shed 0.04 percent against the US DOllar to close the day at 116.52 shillings (-2.98 percent year-to-date). Against the Pound, the shilling weakened 0.60 percent to close the day at 146.55 shillings (+3.62% year-to-date).
The shilling also weakened against the EURO, shedding 0.58 percent to close the day at 123.87 shillings (+3.22% year-to-date).
On the Kenyan Stock Market, the total equity turnover advanced by 417.26 percent to close at USD 19.83 Million (KES 2.31 billion) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 3.83 million (KES 446.62 million).
The NSE 20 and NASI dropped by 0.14 and 0.56 percent to close at 1,669.94 and 128.34, respectively.
Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 72.86% of total market purchases and 95.80% of total market sales.
