On August 6, 2022, there was action in the field. The action happened in Murang’a County during the Dimba Itambe na SportPesa playoffs. During the playoffs, those who made the cut walked away with amazing cash prizes.
Dimba Itambe is an initiative by the giant gaming company, SportPesa, that is aimed at supporting grassroots teams across the country in line with the company’s drive to grow and support raw talent in Kenya.
The initiative gave teams across the country eying to grow into bigger clubs and field players in top leagues and tournaments within and without the country a shot in the arm, giving hope to millions of Kenyan youths who want to catapult their talent to the next level.
For the playoffs in Murang’a County, M-Seal Youth FC walked away with 50,000 shillings while Ndakaini FC pocketed 30,000 shillings. Murang’a Queens went home with 30,000 shillings while Wemba Queens walked to the bank with 20,000 shillings.

According to SportPesa, Dimba Itambe is to ensure as many upcoming teams as possible get the support they need to create a talent pipeline for national league clubs, the national team, and even international teams. It also helped by motivating them through cash prizes as well as other incentives.
SportPesa is renowned for supporting Kenyan grassroots football and promoting memorable sports events such as Nairobi Fight Nights and SportPesa Super 8 League. The giant gaming company is currently the main club sponsor of the National Super League (NSL) side Murang’a Seals.
SportPesa’s license renewal last week was received with a lot of hope from sports entities given the high-caliber sports investments it makes. It will trade under BCLB license number 0000448 valid until June 30th, 2023.
