KNEC Announces Training Opportunities For KCSE Examiners, How To Apply

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued the following circular regarding the training of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners between the 24th and 28th of April 2023

The venue for the training will be communicated to the qualified applicants at a later date. The training will be strictly residential.

The training fee is 10,500 shillings and will only be paid by the shortlisted applicants who will be notified through a text message (SMS) on how to make the payment.

The council further indicated that all the successful trainees will be incorporated into the KNEC examiners’ database and engaged by the agency through its criteria for recruiting examiners based on each paper’s personnel needs.

However, the Council indicated that teachers already trained as KCSE examiners and in the KNEC database of examiners should not apply. The teachers are expected to train as examiners in a number of KCSE papers, including English (codes 101/1, 101/2, and 101/3), Biology (codes 231/1, 231/2, and 231/3), and Chemistry (codes 233/2 and 233/3).

General requirements for all the trainee examiners

  1. Must be a practicing teacher in the relevant subject area at the level of examination
  2. Must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  3. Must have a Diploma in Education (and above) for KCSE marking
  4. Have a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years
  5. Must NOT be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from TSC
  6. Must be recommended by his/her head of the institution
  7. Must be 50 years of age and below

Applicants are required to do the following:

  1. Access the KNEC examiners portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke
  2. Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords
  3. Those who would have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on the reset password button and enter their mobile number and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system.
  4. Those without CP2 accounts should click on create an account and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials to access the system
  5. Upon successful login, complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard click apply for training and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose from.

The training slots are limited and only qualified teachers who have presented all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise.
