Imagine a situation where officials at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the National Treasury, and the Central Bank of Kenya looted every penny to the point that the government has no money. Imagine what will happen to the country.
Can you imagine that for the first time, since Kenya got independence, 99 percent of civil servants have not received their salaries? By Thursday, reports indicated that only members of the police, military, and teachers had gotten their salaries.
County Governments have not received cash from the National Treasury for more than three months. Nothing is happening at the county level. Doctors and county workers have not been paid. Counties will soon collapse if they won’t receive the cash.
The government of Kenya Kwanza has been increasing taxes left, right, and center. The government dropped subsidies and doubled the cost of most common products. Now, one would expect that with those “measures”, taxes would increase. But guess what, KRA “missed” the target.
It seems as though there is massive confusion within the Kenya Kwanza Government. It seems as though they won the election without any idea of how to govern a country. It seems as though they have no f**king idea how funds and revenues are managed in a country.
Every Cabinet Secretary has become a demigod. Barking orders and giving contradictory statements, is a clear indication that they have no idea of what is happening around them. To make matters worse, the President appointed 50 CASs to “make his government better.”
Here is a letter written by Azimio la Umoja on the financial situation in the country:
