The Kenyan shilling strengthened against the US Dollar after days of sliding back. The local currency strengthened by 0.05% to close at 129.14 (17.46% year-to-date). The shilling also strengthened against the Euro by 0.30% to close at 141.85 (18.37% year-to-date).

On the downside, the shilling weakened against the British Pound by 0.23% to close at 166.32 (16.76% year-to-date).

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover increased by 111.69% to close at USD 1.55 MN (KES 200.55 MN) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 0.73 MN (KES 94.78 MN).

NSE 20 and NASI rose 0.85% and 0.45% to close at 1643.81 and 102.47, respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 20.98% of total market purchases and 1.85% of total market sales.
