NCBA Unveils Team Of Pro Golfers In Bold Push to Grow Kenya’s Golfing Talent

NCBA

NCBA Bank has officially unveiled its team of four professional golfers under the Kenya Professional Golf Player Development Program (PDP). The unveiling ceremony was held at the historic Kenya Railways Golf Club.

The newly minted “Team NCBA” comprises top Kenyan golfers Edwin Mudanyi, Erick Ooko, Njuguna Ngugi, and Abraham Galgalo. These four will now compete as one of seven professional teams supported by various corporate partners under the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) framework.

NCBA has committed KES 3 million over three years to support the quartet, offering monthly stipends, professional coaching, mental training, gym and fitness support, branded kits, and access to mentorship. The sponsorship also covers participation in the PGK Equator Tour — a platform that provides regular competitive play and opportunities to earn world ranking points.

“This initiative is a clear demonstration of NCBA’s long-term commitment to the growth of professional golf in Kenya,” said a representative from NCBA. “We are proud to back talented Kenyan players and give them the resources they need to flourish on the global stage.”

Beyond sports, the initiative aligns with the Kenyan Government’s broader agenda to monetise talent and generate employment through sport. It also aims to bridge the gap between amateur and professional golf in the country and sets its sights on preparing players to represent Kenya at the 2028 Olympics.

With structure, funding, and long-term support now in place, Team NCBA is poised to drive a new era of professional excellence in Kenyan golf.
