Purpose, Progress, And People: M-PESA Sokoni Lights Up The Mountain Region With Empowerment And Connection

The ongoing #MPESASokoni tour in the Mountain region unfolded as a celebration of purpose, community connection, and meaningful empowerment, as Safaricom deepened its engagement with customers and small business owners across Mukurweini, Karatina, Nyeri, and Chaka.

From the heartfelt smiles in Mukurweini to the electrifying energy of Karatina and Nyeri, and finally to the warm embrace in Chaka, the day was filled with unforgettable moments that highlighted the crucial role M-PESA continues to play in the daily lives of Kenyans.

As the M-PESA Sokoni caravan moved from town to town, it wasn’t just about showcasing services—it was about listening, learning, and growing together with the communities that have made M-PESA a household name.

At every stop, Safaricom teams engaged directly with customers, traders, and community leaders, offering hands-on education about key M-PESA tools designed to empower business growth. These included Lipa na M-PESA, Pochi La Biashara, and Taasi Till—all aimed at enabling users to receive payments securely, manage personal and business finances separately, and even access credit services using their Till Numbers.

Traders shared stories of how M-PESA has helped them manage their businesses more efficiently, and many expressed gratitude for being shown new ways to access financial tools that were previously out of reach. The sessions offered more than just product awareness—they delivered real empowerment through knowledge, equipping communities to thrive in an increasingly digital economy.

The day culminated in the grand opening of a new Safaricom shop in Chaka, symbolizing Safaricom’s long-term commitment to staying close to the people it serves. The shop will offer critical customer support, product information, and a space where digital empowerment can continue to grow.

Through dancing, laughter, education, and heartfelt conversations, Day 2 of the M-PESA Sokoni tour served as a powerful reminder that M-PESA is more than a service—it is a partner, a lifeline, and a catalyst for progress in communities across Kenya.
