After a vibrant tour across Western Kenya, the M-PESA Sokoni caravan has officially flagged off its Nairobi region tour, beginning with an energetic launch at Kibra Grounds – kwa DC – earlier today.
The event drew hundreds of enthusiastic residents, local leaders, and small business owners, eager to witness the mobile platform that’s redefining digital trade across Kenya.
Designed to connect vendors, artisans, and small-scale entrepreneurs to digital payments and e-commerce solutions, M-Pesa Sokoni is part of Safaricom’s broader agenda to empower MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) through technology.
The flag-off in Kibra was marked by color, culture, and conversations. Traditional dancers set the tone with lively performances, while local vendors showcased their wares, from fresh produce and handmade crafts to digital services. Representatives from Safaricom emphasized the company’s commitment to bringing inclusive innovation to all corners of the country.
“Our goal is simple — to help every entrepreneur, regardless of where they are, access the tools they need to grow,” said Safaricom. “M-PESA Sokoni isn’t just a digital product; it’s a mobile platform that travels to where our people are, and we’re excited to now be in Nairobi.”
Over the coming days, the caravan will make stops across key neighborhoods in Nairobi, including Gikambura, Umoja, Githurai, and South B. Alongside product demos and sign-ups, there will be financial literacy sessions, SME mentorship opportunities, and interactive exhibitions on how M-PESA services can streamline business operations.
As digital transformation sweeps through Kenya’s economic landscape, M-PESA Sokoni is not only closing the digital divide — it’s bringing opportunity to the doorstep of every hustler.
