Kenyan content creators and influencers now have a golden opportunity to earn money directly from the government by creating content that promotes key national development projects, specifically affordable housing, healthcare, job creation, and agriculture.
This new move, led by the Office of the Presidential Special Projects and the Creative Economy, aims to support digital creatives who are using their platforms to showcase how government programs are making a difference in the lives of ordinary Kenyans.
Whether you’re active on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or any other online platform, you now have a chance to benefit financially by producing positive, informative content that highlights government efforts. For example, you can create videos or posts about new housing units being built, farmers receiving support, youth employment programs, or improvements in health services. The government is ready to fund such content and will even provide the necessary background materials to help you develop your stories.
In addition to direct financial support, content creators will also get a share of government advertising revenue. In 2023, President William Ruto directed that 30% of all government ad spending should go to digital platforms. This means that creators who consistently post content around these key agendas can start earning just from the traffic and engagement they generate online.
To access this opportunity, interested creators are required to submit proposals to the Creative Economy Office. These proposals should outline how they plan to creatively and effectively tell the story of what the government is doing in areas like housing, health, jobs, and agriculture. Once approved, creators will receive funding and official content resources to support their work.
This initiative is part of a wider strategy by the Kenya Kwanza government to improve public communication, increase transparency, and ensure that more Kenyans understand and appreciate the progress being made across the country. It’s a big win for digital creatives, especially the youth who now have a chance to use their skills not just to entertain, but to inform, inspire, and earn.
