NCBA Donates Vehicle To Support Autism Care In Nanyuki

NCBA

NCBA Bank has donated a vehicle to Tumaini St. Thorlak Autism Centre in Nanyuki to support children living with autism and ease mobility for their families to and from the centre.

The vehicle is expected to significantly improve access to the centre, enhance service delivery, and strengthen outreach to families in Nanyuki and its surrounding areas, particularly those who face transport challenges in accessing specialised care and support services.

Speaking during the handover, NCBA reiterated its commitment to supporting inclusive initiatives that uplift vulnerable groups in society. The donation aligns with the bank’s broader citizenship agenda, which focuses on building sustainable communities and delivering meaningful social impact.

Tumaini St. Thorlak Autism Centre plays a critical role in supporting children with autism through therapy, education, and family support programmes. The additional mobility provided by the vehicle will enable the centre to extend its reach and serve more families within the region.

NCBA’s partnership with Tumaini St. Thorlak Autism Centre took root in 2024 through the Archdiocese of Nyeri, when the Bank supported the establishment of the centre. Since then, the facility has become fully operational, providing daily care and support to an average of 15 children.

However, access to the centre remained a challenge. Long distances and limited transport options made it difficult—sometimes impossible—for families from remote areas to consistently bring their children for care. The donation of a vehicle has now bridged this gap, significantly improving safety, accessibility, and efficiency, and ensuring that more children can benefit from the centre’s vital services.
