NCBA Backs Cycling Growth As Over 1,000 Riders Compete In Safari Gravel Series

NCBA Group has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing sporting excellence and community wellness after partnering with the 2026 edition of the LOOP Safari Gravel Series, an endurance cycling event that attracted more than 1,000 riders from across the country.

The race, which continues to grow in popularity among Kenya’s cycling community, featured three challenging categories — 100KM, 50KM and 20KM — offering participants of varying skill levels an opportunity to test their endurance on gravel terrain.

The event drew cycling enthusiasts, professional riders, and recreational athletes, highlighting the increasing appeal of gravel cycling as both a competitive sport and a lifestyle activity.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora attended the event, signaling the bank’s continued support for initiatives that promote healthy living, talent development, and community engagement.

The bank noted that its involvement in platforms such as the LOOP Safari Gravel Series reflects its broader purpose of “Banking on Belief” — a philosophy centered on empowering individuals and communities to pursue their ambitions.

Beyond cycling, NCBA has been expanding its footprint in sports development through initiatives such as the widely followed NCBA Golf Series, which has become one of the region’s largest amateur golf tournaments.

By supporting sporting platforms that encourage participation across different age groups and skill levels, the bank says it aims to create inclusive opportunities that inspire young people while strengthening community connections.

The Safari Gravel Series also underscores a broader trend in Kenya’s sports landscape, where endurance disciplines such as cycling are gaining traction alongside traditional athletics, attracting growing numbers of participants and sponsors.

Through sustained investment in sports, NCBA continues to position itself as a key supporter of grassroots and recreational sporting ecosystems while fostering healthier, more active communities.
