BrighterMonday, in collaboration with the security sector in Kenya, has established a partnership aimed at strengthening corporate security leadership and creating youth employment opportunities across Kenya’s security ecosystem.
The move aims at strengthening Kenya’s corporate security leadership and creating employment opportunities among emerging talent. Additionally, the initiative is geared towards increasing youth access to work readiness training and employment and strengthening the quality of placements through verified outcomes.
BrighterMonday’s Country Programme Lead and Head of Strategy TATC, Ms. Penina Kimani, says: “Kenyan organisations are increasingly required to adopt proactive, intelligence-led, and skills-driven approaches to onboarding talent in the security sector, particularly in the face of evolving threats and operational risks. BrighterMonday will collaborate with security sector associations in placing young people aged 18 to 35 into dignified and fulfilling work in the security sector in Kenya and Africa.”
The security sector plays a crucial role in all sectors of the economy. Organisations need crisis preparedness and embrace the intersection between security and skills development to boost employment opportunities among the emerging talent.
Ms. Penina adds: “The security sector is widely recognised as a fundamental pillar for economic growth and stability, acting as a prerequisite for development, investment, and daily operation. It is therefore important to grow in tandem with the expectations of job seekers and employers. The partnership will therefore deliver training services to participants and support youth placement through employer linkages and recruitment activities in line with current security sector job placement needs.”
Through the Gen-Kazi Program in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, BrighterMonday Kenya is advancing a broader agenda of youth employment, workforce readiness, and skills development, positioning the security sector as a key contributor to job creation and professional growth in Kenya.
Ms. Penina concludes: “Our collaboration will ensure that we guide the Kenyan economy in creating secure environments that promote business continuity to create employment opportunities among young Kenyans.”
The Gen-Kazi program, implemented by BrighterMonday Kenya in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, continues to tackle these challenges by upskilling and reskilling youth aged 18 – 35, with a focus on underserved groups; 70% women, 70% non-urban youth, and 10% persons with disabilities.
