Students seeking admission to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) can now apply for the September 2026 intake after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) officially opened applications for pre-service programmes.
The application exercise comes shortly after current KMTC students completed their Final Qualifying and End-of-Semester examinations, paving the way for the admission of a new group of trainees later this year.
Prospective students applying for pre-service courses have until August 11, 2026, to submit their applications through the KUCCPS Student Portal. Meanwhile, those seeking admission to in-service or upgrading programmes are required to apply through the official KMTC Admissions Portal.
The announcement follows a recent warning by KMTC over a fake admission notice that had been circulating on social media. The fraudulent poster falsely claimed that applications were open for various medical programmes, misleading many prospective applicants.
The fake advert listed courses such as Clinical Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Radiography, Public Health, and several other health-related programmes, despite not being issued by the institution.
KMTC urged the public to disregard unofficial admission advertisements and cautioned applicants against relying on information shared through unverified social media pages or other unofficial sources. The college advised prospective students to obtain admission information only through its official communication channels.
KUCCPS has also clarified that all applications for pre-service programmes must be submitted via the KUCCPS Student Portal, while applications for in-service and upgrading courses should be made directly through the KMTC Admissions Portal.
As one of Kenya’s largest public medical training institutions, KMTC offers certificate, diploma, and higher diploma programmes designed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed to serve in hospitals, health centres, and other medical facilities across the country.
The institution trains students in a wide range of health disciplines, including Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Radiography, Public Health, Nutrition, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Community Health, among others.
The September 2026 intake is expected to bring thousands of students into KMTC campuses nationwide as the government continues expanding the country’s healthcare workforce to meet the rising demand for qualified medical professionals.
Applicants have been encouraged to submit their applications before the August 11 deadline and verify all admission details through the official KUCCPS and KMTC platforms to avoid falling victim to fraudulent admission schemes.
