The Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) has rolled out an update to its School Selection Portal that lets parents check exactly where their Grade 9 learner has been placed no more waiting around for a phone call from the school or hoping a teacher remembers to pass along the information.

Head to the portal. The official site is https://selection-placement.kemis.go.ke/bookmark it, and don’t trust any other link claiming to be the same thing. There are always copycat sites floating around during placement season, so stick to this one.
Find “My Selection.” It’s right there on the homepage, built specifically for parents who want to pull up their child’s placement info.
Type in the assessment number. This is the number your child was given during the national assessment. Double-check it before hitting submit; even one wrong digit and the system won’t find the record.
Wait it out. The portal needs a moment to pull up the results, and if a lot of parents are checking at the same time, it might take a bit longer than you’d expect. Don’t panic if it’s not instant.
Check everything, then save it. Once the placement details show up, go through them carefully, make sure the school matches what you expected, and that your child’s details were entered correctly on the school’s end. When you’re satisfied it’s all correct, download or print the placement slip.
