Kenyan Stock Market

The NSE 20 and NASI index rose by 5.54 points and 0.28 points respectively to close the day at 5248.16 and 175.11. Mumias was the top gainer of the day, rising by 6.52 percent to close at KES 2.30. Barclays was the top loser of the day, losing 6.29 percent to close the day at KES 16.40.
The number of shares traded today was 25.16mn with a turnover of KES 669.28mn, indicating an increase of 17.75 percent compared to yesterday’s turnover. Equity Group was the top mover with a turnover of KES 143.74mn, representing 21.48 percent of the day’s total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 60.91 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 51.13 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI went up by 0.02 percent to close at 2,076.39 while USE LSI declined by 0.25 percent to close at 329.19. A total of 7.06mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 2.67bn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI decline by 0.03 percent and 0.17 percent to close the day at 137.29 and 234.22.

Tanzania: The DSEI went down by 2.51 percent to close the day at 2,596.26 while DSE TSI edged up by 0.32 percent to close the day at 4830.10. National Microfinance Bank was the highest gainer of the day with an increment of 2.34 percent to close at TZS 580.00. Tanga Cement Company declined by 1.38 percent to close the day at TZS 4,300 to be the highest loser of the day. Total volumes were recorded at 24,860 shares as total turnover closed at TZS 164.81mn.
