Umeme top loser as stock prices decline by 10.00 percent

The NSE 20 and NASI index declined by 4.81 points and 0.96 points respectively to close the day at 5,056.27 and 171.59.

The highest market gainer of the day was Kakuzi rising by 9.65 percent to close at KES 284.00 on the other hand Umeme emerged as the top loser, declining by 10.00 percent to close the day at KES 17.10.

The volume of shares traded dropped by 61.06 percent to close at 11.00mn, total turnover also declined by 54.38 percent to close at KES 409.87mn.

E.A Breweries was the overall market mover with a turnover of KES 103.42mn representing 25.23 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 49.59 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 57.67percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI went down by 0.21 percent to close at 2,033.33 while USE LSI rose by 0.55 percent to close at 235.87. A total of 3.41mn shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 2,995.09mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI remained constant to close at 232.17 and 137.05. Total number of shares traded today was 6,900 shares. Total turnover come to a close of2.51mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI surged up by 1.23 percent and 0.30 percent respectively to close at 2,691.67 and 4,729.38.Tanzania Portland Cement was the top gainer of the day gaining 4.68 percent to close at TZS 3,800 .African Barrick Gold was the top loser declining by 0.38 percent to close the day at TZS 7,910.00

Total volumes were recorded at 149,003 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 179.51bn.
