Liberty edges up by 8.33 percent to emerge highest gainer of the day

The NSE 20 and NASI index rose by 15.11 points and 0.80 points respectively to close at 5,100.51 and 173.94. The highest market gainer of the day was Liberty edging up by 8.33 percent to close at KES 22.75, Trans-Century emerged as the top loser, shedding 8.12 percent to close the day at KES 14.15.

The volume of shares traded declined by 62.15 percent to close at 20.41mn, total turnover also dipped by 62.45 percent to close at KES 557.39mn. KCB bank was the overall market mover with a turnover of KES 186.51mn representing 33.46 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 55.87 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 53.76 percent of total turnover

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI went up by 0.20 percent to close at 2,030.12 while the USE LSI remained constant to close at 325.96. A total of 9,195 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 303,435.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI shaved 0.71 percent and 0.14 percent to close at 229.04 and 136.68 respectively. Total number of shares traded today was 141,900 shares. Total turnover come to a close of 42.26mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI gained 0.62 percent and 0.91 percent respectively to close at 2,735.89 and 4,772.35. Tanzania Breweries was the top gainer of the day gaining 2.55 percent to close at TZS 14,870.Tanzania Portland cement was the top loser declining by 1.32 percent to close at 3,750.Total volumes were recorded at 4,894 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 13.22mn.
