Safaricom largest mover of the day accounting for 27 percent of total market turnover.

The NSE 20 and NASI index rose by 9.38 points and 0.35 points to close at 4,941.71 and 167.83. Kapchorua edged up by 8.62 percent to close at KES 126.00 to become today’s top gainer on the other hand Olympia Holdings emerged the top loser, declining by 9.80 percent to close the day at KES 4.60.

The volume of shares traded jumped by 14.90 percent to close at 19.46mn while total turnover shed off 34.37 percent to close at KES 630.25mn. Safaricom was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 175.33mn representing 27.82 percent of total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 61.68 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 64.97 percent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI declined by 0.18 percent and 0.22 percent respectively to close at 1,923.73 and 325.01. A total of 513,560 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 150.66mn.

Rwanda: The RSE ALSI and RSE RSI dipped by 0.18 percent and 0.04 percent to close at 224.43 and 136.13. Total number of shares traded today was 2.66mn shares. Total turnover come to a close of 771.72mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI shaved 1.38 percent and 0.04 Percent respectively close at 2,752.65 and 4,701.80.Tanga Cigarette company was the top gainer of the day gaining 0.26 percent to close at TZS 3,820.Africa Barrick Gold was the top loser, declining by 2.40 percent to close at 9,370.00Total volumes were recorded at 1892,279 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 3.36bn.
