The long awaited ‘Dream Girls’, a silver stage musical production, took place from the 26th to 28th of June at the Braeburn theater in Nairobi. The production was originally done by Michael Bennet and starred famous performer Beyoncé and former American Idol contestant and singer, Jennifer Hudson.

“Silver Stage Musicals, has been the home of internationally acclaimed productions making it a favorite destination for visitors from all over the world.“ says Peter Oyier, Executive Producer at Silver Stage Musicals.

The silver stage production is based on the 2006 Box Office musical drama film Dream Girls, and was performed live at the Braeburn theatre. Dream Girls is a story of greed, hate and romance. Three young women, Deena Jones, Effie White, and Lorrell Robinson – desire to become pop stars and get their wish when they’re picked to be backup singers for the legendary James “Thunder” Early. Then they’re set free for leads, but Curtis Taylor and Effie’s brother, C.C., decide that Deena should be lead which upsets Effie.

The successful production was an effort of the cast, band, media, and photography crew and costume designers. The orchestra was brilliant and stage music, stage design, effects and choreography were stellar. The Sterling Quality Company brought fresh talent and the musical attracted people from all over. With this kind of support from Kenyans and media houses we are definitely looking forward to more theater productions in Kenya.
