Help a Child’s Lifelong Dream to Become an Engineer Come True

For a long time, I have advocated for the girl child’s education. As they say, educate a man, you educate him alone but if you educate a girl, you educate a whole generation.

Over the last 3 years, I have raised funds online for 3 girls to go to high school. My best story is Catherine Bosibori who almost lost her place at Alliance Girl’s High School due to lack of fees. We only had three days to raise funds, and within that short time, we were able to raise KShs 60,000 to take her to school. In those three days, Naivas came on board and provided her with shopping while the KCB Foundation came on board to pay her fees till she completes high school. That to me was a humbling moment. We started a spark.

This father’s day, a friend of mine asked me why I was keen on educating girls and not boys. Honestly, I did not have a reason. I assumed that ‘other’ people were taking care of it.

It so happened that my friend Rogers Oketch had been admitted to a prestigious University in Russia to study Mechanical engineering.  Since he was nine years old, it has been his dream to study mechanical engineering. Those who know him say he’s a bright, young man, who provokes thought and questions the way we do things. Due to financial constraints, his dream might be shattered. He decided to start a campaign on Indiegogo to raise money for fees.

He needs KShs 750,000 to complete his degree.

It has been one week and we have raised KShs 64,000. We have 19 days remaining and we hope to raise the remaining amount.

We have done it before and I believe that we will do it again. We can take Rogers to school and together we will make a child’s dream come true.
