Kenyan Shilling Weakens Against All Major Peers

Secondary Market: Trading in the secondary market wavered during Thursday’s trading session. Bond turnover stood at KES 523.90 million with only four bond deals transacted over the day. Investors displayed keen interest for bonds on the short and intermediate term bracket.

Money Market: The money market was relatively liquid signaled by the interbank rate which stood at 8.02%. The Kenyan Shilling weakened against all its major regional and international peers. The shilling continued to exert further weakening by 0.40% to 100.68 as the Dollar remains relatively higher on its rallying despite higher jobless claims data.
