BAT Kenya Emerges Day’s Top Gainer

NSE 20 share and NASI index rose by 26.23 points and 2.43 points respectively to close at 4,153.31 and 144.95. BAT Kenya gained 8.54 percent to KES 750.00 to emerge as the day’s top gainer. Kakuzi emerged the top loser, declining by 9.36 percent to close the day at KES 310.00.

The volume of shares traded declined 35.81 percent to close at 12.36mn. Total turnover also dropped 38.18 percent to close at KES 391.64mn. CFC Stanbic was the largest mover of the day with a turnover of KES 95.67mn representing 24.43 percent of the total market turnover.

Foreign buys stood at 77.93 percent of total turnover, while foreign sales stood at 21.42 p ercent of total turnover.

EAC Markets

Uganda: The USE ALSI and USE LSI shaved off 1.12 percent and 0.05 percent respectively to close at 1,848.03 and 351.32. A total of 109,500 shares were traded today. Total turnover came to a close of UGX 8.62mn.

Rwanda: The USE RSI and RSE ALSI remained constant to close at 192.24 and 141.53. Total number of shares traded today was 4,100 shares. Total turnover come to a close of RWF 1.16mn.

Tanzania: The DSEI and DSE TSI rose 0.21 percent and 0.22 percent respectively to close at 2,467.46 and 4,630.85. Swissport Tanzania the day’s top gainer, gaining 0.33 percent to close at 7,500.00. Dar es Salaam Community Bank declined 2.44 percent to close at 600.00 emerging as top loser. Total volumes were recorded at 61,126 shares. Total turnover closed at TZS 52.34mn.
