The Governors Are Utterly Wrong On IFMIS

BY · September 18, 2015 07:09 am

There is a saying that when you see a commander wetting his pants when he hears of a good thing, then you automatically know that he has not been doing good things and this is the scenario being depicted by the governors who are vehemently and furiously against the implementation of the Integrated Financial Management Information System at the county level.

Those who have voices of reason know that IFMIS electronically links all financial transactions between all levels of government to the national Treasury and the governors are scared.

The truth is that the linking of all the transactions, from procurement to the making of the actual payments helps to curb corruption by detecting it early as in the infamous case of the NYS scam at the Devolution and Planning ministry and the governor’s recent cite of poor of infrastructure and unqualified personnel to train county staff is misguided.
