Wananchi Group’s home entertainment brand Zuku is for the third year running, televising the 2015 Safari Sevens Rugby Series, running from the 2nd to the 4th of October, at the Safaricom Stadium Kasarani. Zuku is the official broadcast partner for Kenya Rugby Union.

The matches will be aired live on the Zuku Sports, Channel 300 and 301, to audiences in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi, with feeds to local media houses for news purposes. It will also be streamed live on www.zuku.co.ke/live for worldwide viewers.

“Celebrating its 20th year, the Safari 7’s series has emerged as one of the most watched rugby events in Kenya and the rest of the region. We are proud to bring the matches into Kenyan living rooms and other areas where they can keep up with the matches and scores,” said Richard Alden, Group Chief Executive Officer.

“The matches will be televised in High Definition (HD) which means that audiences will enjoy watching the matches and ambience around the pitches in high quality- giving them real in-stadium experience,” he added.

In addition to Safari Sevens, Zuku will televise Chebarbar 7’s on October 11th as well as the Kenya Cup 2015/2016 season for 26 weeks starting from November 21st 2015.

The sponsorship in live coverage is valued at Kshs. 250 million- spread over a five year period, and is part of Zuku’s content development strategy that will see the firm increase its local programming as a way of boosting the local production industry.

Zuku has also sponsored other sporting properties in basketball and volleyball over the recent past.
