Kisii County, the Silent Economic Hub

Welcome to Kisii County, the little known and the little talked about county but one vetted as the economic hub of the western region. Blessed with the beautiful scenery, the breath taking natural hills and valleys, snaky meandering rivers as well as industrious people, Kisii County is an agricultural as well as an economic hub other than any other County in the western region.

It is estimated that over 65 percent of the soils within Kisii County are volcanic and, therefore, suited for coffee, tea, pyrethrum as well as sugarcane though the region is well known for their gigantic bananas and something more interesting is that the county has never received any aid in terms of food as a result of such calamities as hunger.

The best place to set up a banana industry is in the rural areas because of the proximity to the raw materials from the small scale farmers who will be more than willing to sell their produce. There is also a lot of labour from the high population within the county. An industry in banana products will be profitable because currently there are very few industries within the country that deal with banana products. One can choose to deal with the making of banana juices as well as natural banana flavored drinks that are rare on the markets.

Just fifteen years ago, Kisii town was just like other towns. Dull and ruled with some old rusty antiquated buildings but thanks to modernity and devolutions, the town is now a haven of activities. Real estate is now taking the center stage as the most lucrative business within Kisii Town.

Many investors are now eyeing the town and are erecting modern tall buildings within the town. Setting up a building within Kisii Town is profitable in a number of ways; one, the town is growing and still there is not that stiff competition in field and setting up a building will see many clients coming your way. Two, many academic institutions are setting up branches within the town and they need classes, students will need residential areas and lecturers will need places to stay.
