If we cannot nurture nature, then nature will have no option but nurture us and woe unto us if nature will decide to nurture us on the negative side.
Environment is what surrounds us. It is that which we live in and interact with it day by day. It is that something that is own being, our own existence. If we conserve the environment, we are conserving ourselves, we are conserving our own existence.
Kenya needs to greatly focus on the conservation of the environment for the future generations. Environmental Conservation is an act that needs a lot more focus especially in Kenya since this is an area that has a lot of benefits not only to human beings but also to animals and insects. This has not and need not to be an assigned duty to a specific person or organization, but it is our mandate to ensure that our surroundings are conducive for the survival of ecology.
By conserving the environment, there will be plenty of food. Agriculture greatly depends on the environment and we in turn depend on agriculture. Kenya as a country survives on agricultural products not only for consumption, but also for the growth of the economy. A country’s wealth might come from something else but its population needs to eat. Conserving the environment and preventing soil erosion, desertification, and flooding is essential.
Unsustainable farming techniques not only impact natural ecosystems but also ultimately make farming itself impossible. This is why we need forests around us, which will lead to the presence of enough rainfall for agricultural purposes.
While much of our food comes from agriculture, the oceans are also an essential source. Communities worldwide depend upon seafood. Marine conservation is vital to protect human food supplies as well as marine animals. Looking after the seas doesn’t just mean saving big, glamorous animals from extinction, important as this is.
Human activities impact the climate, and this affects all life. Droughts, floods, and extremes of heat and cold, are caused by global warming which is almost certainly linked to greenhouse gas emissions. There are other, more local, climate changes also caused by not treating the environment with respect.
Conservation of natural environments should be done not just for their own sake, but also for that of the world as a whole. The future generation will depend on how Kenya conserves the environment today. History will harshly judge the current generation if the future generation will have to die from what we would have prevented today.
