AfDB Approves US $12.4MN for Women Entrepreneurs

Rwanda tops Africa in policy, institutional reforms –World Bank Report:

A latest report by the World Bank shows that Rwanda achieved the highest score in Sub Saharan Africa in an index dubbed Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA).

“With a series of policy reforms, Rwanda continues to lead all countries with a CPIA score of 4.0 followed by Cabo Verde, Kenya, and Senegal, all with a 3.8 score. Improvements in several policy areas reversed the slide in Ghana’s score, lifting the country’s CPIA score from 3.4 in 2014 to 3.6 in 2015,” reads part of the statement.

Guidelines for good business practice in Africa

The Department of Trade and Industry has published a set of guidelines for good business practice by South African companies operating elsewhere in Africa, to ensure responsible corporate citizenship across the continent.

The Guidelines for Good Business Practice for South African Companies Operating in the Rest of Africa were developed in consultation with other government departments, the private sector and labour.

African Development bank approves $12.4M for women entrepreneurs

A statement from AfDB said the funds will be used for a project called “50 million Women Speak” to create a networking platform dedicated to sub-Saharan women entrepreneurs.

The grant will be spread between the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
