Dry Maize in Bungoma Trading High Despite Surplus Green Maize

BY Juma · August 18, 2016 07:08 am

Dry maize in Bungoma County still retail highest even as there is a plenty surplus of green maize in the region.

A 90- kilogram bag of dry maize is retailing at 3200 shillings up from 3000 last month. A quick market check at Kimilili Market, one of the largest markets in Bungoma County revealed that the readiness of cream maize has not affected the prices of green maize.

Traders, however, say that prices are prone to come down in the next one month as many farmers would have started harvesting their maize especially those who planted early.
