Groundnut Scarcity Leads to High Market Prices

There has been a scarcity of wheat grains in the market but indications this week point to the situation improving though the prices remain relatively high for a 90kg bag. In Malindi, the 90kg bag of wheat is being retailed at Sh.6,000 while he same quantity is going at Sh.2,800 in Nakuru.

Dry maize, on the other hand, retails at Sh.3,200 in Nakuru for a 90kg bag, while the same goes for Sh.3,150 in Malindi. Here is a summary of the same:

Njahi have taken the lead in having the highest market prices in the legume family. A 90kg bag of Njahi is retailing at Sh.13,950 in Mombasa, Sh.13,000 in Nakuru and Sh.12,000 in Nairobi. Groundnut prices too have not gone down since last week.  A 110kg bag is going for Sh.14,800 in Malindi, Sh.13,750 in Mombasa, Sh.12,500 in Nairobi and Sh.12,000 in Nakuru.
