Groundnuts Retailing Highest in Mombasa; Lowest in Kisumu

A 90kg bag of dry maize is retailing highest in Kisumu, where it is being sold at 3,400 shillings. The same quantity is going at 3,150 shillings in Kitui, 3,000 shillings in Mombasa, 2,900 shillings in Nairobi, 2,700 shillings in Malind and 2,600 shillings in Eldoret.

A 90kg bag of finger millet is being sold at 8,100 shillings in Malindi while the same is going at 7,200 shillings in Eldoret, Nairobi and Kitui respectively.

Sorghum is also available in the market where a 90kg bag is being sold at 5,400 shillings in Malindi, where the market price is highest and lowest in Mombasa where the commodity is going at 3,150 shillings for every 90kg bag.

On the other hand, there seems to be a scarcity in the production of groundnuts in the country. This s because the market prices for the commodity are very high as compared to others in the market. A 110kg bag is retailing hat 15,400 shillings in Mombasa and in Kisumu, it is going at 10,000 shillings.

Green grams are also available in the market and their prices are as follows: Nairobi: 9,800 shillings, Mombasa: 8,550 shillings, Kisumu: 10,000 shillings, Nakuru: 8,000 shillings, Eldoret: 13,500 shillings, Kitui: 9,000 and Malindi: 10,000 shillings.
