NAOMI KAMAU- PRODUCER

Naomi Kamau has cut a niche for herself as Kenya’s leading television Producer/ script writer. Many a programme on TV we have watched and loved, but have never wondered where the wonderful stories originate from. Her goal is to always share experiences and entertain audiences. Naomi Kamau has written Family Dramas; High School Drama; Intrigue, and even
children drama. She has also won the hearts of many through a magazine show called Shamba Shape up in which she was the host and of which she won a Kalasha award for.

Some notable productions that Naomi Kamau has written are:

Reflections – a family drama that aired on KBC Television

Heart and Soul – a drama produced by Blue Sky Productions for the United Nations

Makutano Junction – a drama with intrigue and community education themes

Heartbeat FM – a drama produced by Blue Sky for Kenya Breweries

Tahidi High – a high school drama expressing relevant issues in school from the eye of the
student

Mother-In-Law – a middle class, family drama based around a mother-in-law who gets between
her son and his wife.

Machachari – a children’s’ drama, starring children, who go through adventures, solve
community problems and break the class barrier.

Shamba Shape Up- a magazine show that helps farmers learn techniques on farming.

Naomi Kamau is a force to reckon with in the Kenyan entertainment industry. One recent online article called her the ‘iron lady’ of the Kenyan entertainment industry- with several projects in the works this lady shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon

WINNIE NGUMI

Managing Director of Space and Style Ltd

Winnie Ngumi is the Managing Director of Space and Style Ltd, a Kenyan company that has been in operation since 2002. After graduating with a Bachelors of Architecture in 2000, Winnie started the company that has since grown to be at the forefront of supply of specialized building solutions in the region.

Her passion for architecture has pushed Winnie to work towards transforming the male-dominated industry. Her efforts paid off when she got recognition from AAK QS chapter for her role as a woman spearheading change in the construction industry in Kenya. Some of her other achievements include; the Golden Tile awarded in 2009 after her company sold the first one million tiles — an achievement only four other distributors globally had achieved. Winnie was also recognized for pioneering a training programme for roofing installers that has seen more than1,500 fundis being certified countrywide.

Through hard-work and determination, Winnie has steered Space and Style into a market-leader in the construction materials market. She has seen the company secure the sole distributorship deal for Decra Roofing Tiles, the world’s largest and the original producer of the best quality stone-coated steel roofing tiles in the world.

Evidently, Winnie Ngumi has been consistent in climbing up the construction industry value chain and she is not about to stop. She will be sharing her inspirational story at the Entrepreneurs’ Boot Camp 2016 Edition.

TERRYANNE CHEBET

Senior Anchor, And Founder of Keyara’s Organics

Terryanne Chebet is a Senior Anchor and Associate Business News Editor at Citizen TV. She is currently the host Kenya’s leading Business News magazine, Citizen Business Centre, and has worked in key financial journalism institutions such as CNBC Africa, CCTV Africa and National Broadcaster KBC. Chebet is also a moderator, poem writer and speaker, having facilitated key national and state business and economic events.

Chebet is also the founder of Keyara, an organic and Natural skin care company with a soul and a real passion for African ingredients and has a vision to grow the company to be among the world’s leading Natural Skincare brands. Keyara’s Organics portfolio has since expanded and now includes body butters, body balms, soaps and hair food.

Chebet, who is also a mentor with Akili Dada has the capacity to become a brand that is compelling, irresistible and strategic. She enjoys talking to professionals and entrepreneurs about designing a winning personal brand.

EMILY WANJA

Director of OWNA Movie LTD

Emily Wanja is a producer based in Nairobi Kenya. An alumni of Cinemart Producers lab Netherlands, she has produced several films including the short film ‘Burnt Forest,’ a USA, Singapore and Kenya co-production nominated for Best short film at the 2013 Africa Academy Movie Awards and co-produced A fork, A spoon, A night’, a short film by director Mira Nair, commissioned by the Tribeca Film Institute to celebrate the spirit of Nelson Mandela. She is the producer of several TV shows on NTV and Ebru TV notably Seeds of Gold on NTV which is primarily about youth, agribusiness and farming technologies today. She is the supervising producer for DOCUBOX (East Africa Documentary Film Fund), and the director of OWNA movie LTD- ownamovie.co.ke

APPIE MATERE

Executive Producer, Zamaradi Productions 

Appie Matere is the woman behind some of Kenya’s leading film and TV productions and the Producer at Zamaradi Productions. When she landed in Nairobi, Appie’s took hawking as her first job but through great passion and focus, she is today working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and producing award-winning films. She has worked with Judy on Killer Necklace as a producer and also produced the award-winning feature documentary, Headlines in History, which won the Best Feature documentary at the Kalasha awards. Recently, she was contracted to do 71 movies in six months by Africa Magic/ MNET.
Appie will be speaking about Creative Industry and how to convert talent into money.

SAM GICHURU

Founder & CEO Of Nailab

Sam Gichuru is Founder & CEO of Nailab, one of Kenya’ s leading business incubators.

Nailab, recognized in the 2015 State of the Nation address by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta, has incubated over 40 entrepreneurs since its inception in 2010 and some of its startups include: Kuhustle, Wezatele (Acquired by AFB), Kejahunt (2015 Vision 2030 ICT award winners), Paykind (500 Startups alumni), Cladlight, Sokotext (2015 Index awards finalists) and Eneza Education (Kenya’s fastest growing mobile learning company)

Sam served as Vice-chair of the technical team that put together the first ever Kenya National Innovation forum whose result was the establishment of Enterprise Kenya- Kenya’s trade entity for innovations. He has been a strong proponent on the value of Mentorship of young entrepreneurs viewing them as a critical interface between job creation and poverty eradication in emerging markets.

Mr. Gichuru’s contribution in establishing the startup business ecosystem in Kenya, through Nailab, has been significant and as a result he was invited as a key speaker during the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), held in Nairobi and officiated by The President of The United States, Barack Obama. Sam was instrumental in setting the stage and discussing the importance of specialty incubators and the key role innovation hubs play in the success of a startup business.

A Rotarian, he has prior experience in ICT having worked in 3 major Internet Service Providers.Sam currently serves on the board of several startups and is also an angel investor. He is also serving as a board member of AKVO, Nailab and KITOS (Kenya’s IT and outsourcing Services Body).

POLYCARP IGATHE

The Managing Director, Vivo Energy Kenya.

Vivo Energy is the new company behind the Shell brand in Africa.

Previously, Poly was the Managing Director, Haco Tiger Brands. He has held senior commercial management positions at East Africa Breweries (Diageo), Coca-Cola Nairobi Bottlers (SABCO), and Africa Online, where he played key roles in sales, Distribution, branding and marketing.

Polycarp is 43 years old. He is the Chairman, Bishop Gatimu Gandu Girls High School and a Director, KEPSA and former Chairman – Kenya Association of Manufacturers.

Polycarp holds a B.A. Economics degree from University of Nairobi. He is a graduate of IESE Business School Advanced Management Program (AMP) which he undertook in 2009.

Married to Catherine Igathe and have three children aged between 14 and 4 years – Matilda Mwihaki Igathe, Emmanuel Kamau Igathe and Anna Wanjiru Igathe.
