Kenyan motorists will have to pay more for fuel as petrol prices have been increased by 3.38 shillings per litre, diesel increased by 0.05 shillings per every liter while households that depend on kerosene will pay 3.45 shillings more for every litre.

This comes after the Energy and Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced an increase on the prices stating that it is as a result of an increase on the average landed cost of imported petrol, diesel and kerosene.

Motorists in Nairobi will be forced to pay a total of 94.94 shillings for every litre of super petrol from 91.56 shillings and 78.79 shillings for a litre of diesel. On the other hand, household that still depend on kerosene will get it at 62.16 shillings.

“The changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increasing by 8.12 percent from 47,933 shillings ($479.33) per ton in September 2016 to 51,823 shillings ($518.23) per ton in October 2016,” read a statement from ERC.

The statement further disclosed that the average landed cost of Diesel increased from 43,540 shillings ($435.40) per ton to 43,546 shillings ($435.46) per ton and Kerosene increased by 10.68 percent from 43,307 shillings ($433.07) per ton to 47, 930 shillings ($479.30) per ton.

The changes will be in place for the coming one month, effected from November 15th 2016 to December 14th 2016
