Over 500 primary schools in 47 counties in Kenya have received text books worth KSh 10 million as part of a countrywide book campaign initiated by Rotary Clubs in Kenya and the Oxford University Press East Africa.

The book campaign was officially launched on 31st May, 2017 at Esther Preparatory School in Ngong town. So far, a total of 43,000 books valued at KSh 10 million have been distributed to public primary schools in needy areas.

“If we don’t invest in our children, Kenya is doomed. Who will build and maintain our infrastructure? Who will attend to us in hospitals? Who will lead this country and get solutions to the perennial food shortage? It is the children in primary school. We have to plant a seed in them. The seed to make a difference and they can only do that if we empower them with books,” says Richard Omwela, Rotary District 9212 Governor.
