Bankers Dominate the Top Movers’ Table on Monday

Barclays Bank of Kenya was the top mover on Monday at the Nairobi Security Exchange followed by Safaricom Limited.

The bank posted a total volume of 7.57 million shares with a market capitalization of 54.32 billion. Safaricom Limited posted 5.93 million shares with a market capitalization of 1.12 trillion.

Co-operative Bank of Kenya and Kenya Commercial Bank posted volumes of 2.96 and 2.86 million shares respectively with a market capitalization of 95.05 and 128.77 billion respectively.

Centum Investment Company closed the top movers’ of the day table with 1.64 million shares with a market capitalization of 29.28 billion.

WPP ScanGroup was the top loser of the day. The company lost 9.73 percent at the price of 16.70 shillings per share.

Express was the second top loser of the day with 5.00 percent at the price of 3.80 shillings per share while National Bank lost 4.76 percent at the price of 10.00 shillings per share.

Total Kenya was the fourth top loser with 3.85 percent at the price of 25.00 shillings per share. Sameer Africa closed the top five losers’ circle of the day with 3.33 percent at the price of 2.90 shillings per share.

East African Portland Cement was the top gainer of the day. The cement manufacturer gained 10.00 percent at the price of 30.25 shillings per share.

Uchumi Supermarket was the second top gainer of the day with 9.86 percent at the price of 3.90 shillings per share.

Home Afrika and NIC Bank gained 8.00 and 7.48 percent respectively at the price of 1.35 and 39.50 shillings per share respectively.

TPS Eastern Africa (Serena) closed the top five gainers of the day with 5.66 percent at the price of 28.00 shillings per share.

Among the top five movers, three banks dominated including Barclays Bank of Kenya, Kenya Commercial Bank and Co-operative Bank of Kenya.
