Safaricom Limited Top Mover of the Day as Sameer Africa Tails

Safaricom Limited was the top mover of the day for a fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The telecommunication company posted a volume of 6.39 million in shares with a market capital of 1.02 trillion.

Co-operative Bank of Kenya was the second mover of the day with 5.10 million and a market capital of 93.87 billion. Kenya Commercial Bank posted a volume of 2.24 million and a market capital of 124.94 billion.

Mumias Sugar Company and Home Afrika posted volumes of 892,300 and 853,200 respectively with market capitals of 1.76 billion and 486.31 million respectively.

Sameer Africa was the top loser of the day. The company lost 5.08 percent at the price of 2.80 shillings per share followed by Williamson Tea Kenya which lost 2.42 percent at the price of 161.00 shillings per share respectively.

Barclays Bank and NIC Bank lost 2.01 and 2.00 percent respectively at the price of 9.75 and 36.75 shillings per share respectively while Nation Media Group lost 1.72 percent at the price of 114.00 shillings per share.

On the top gainers counter, Nairobi Business Ventures carried the day. The company gained 8.77 percent at the price of 3.10 shillings per share. Total Kenya was the second top gainer with 7.78 percent at the price of 24.25 shillings per share.

CIC Insurance Group and Mumias Sugar Company gained 6.54 and 4.55 percent respectively at the price of 5.70 and 1.15 shillings per share respectively. Uchumi Supermarket closed the top five gainers of the day with 4.35 percent at the price of 3.60 shillings per share.

Summary

The top five gainers of the day are Nairobi Business Ventures, Total Kenya, CIC Insurance Group, Mumias Sugar Company and Uchumi Supermarket while the top losers were Sameer Africa, Williamson Tea Kenya, Barclays Bank, NIC Bank and Nation Media Group on Thursday.
