Sorghum Prices Remain Constant for the Second Week

Sorghum farming has taken root in the past years as more farmers have embraced it due to its increasing benefits.

The market prices for a 90-kilogram bag of the cereal have been seen to be stagnant from last when in most towns. There have been no changes as the prices are still the same.

Finger Millet, on the other hand, is being sold with the following market prices in selected towns across the country: 9,600 shillings’ in Kisumu, 9,000 shillings in Mombasa, 8,100 shillings in Nairobi and Eldoret respectively and 6,300 shillings in Busia.

A 115-kilogram bag of Green maize is being sold as follows: 4,40 shillings in Mombasa, 2,500 shillings in Busia, 2,250 shillings in Nairobi, 2,200 shillings in Kisumu, 1,600 shillings in Eldoret and 1,500 shillings in Nakuru.

The table below gives a summary of market prices for various cereals in the market:

A 51-kilogram bag of Fresh Peas is retailing highest in Mombasa at 6,000 shillings and lowest in Eldoret at 2,250 shillings.

A 110-kilogram bag of groundnuts, on the other hand, has the following market prices in selected towns: 16,500 shillings in Busia, 12,100 shillings in Mombasa, 12,000 shillings in Nakuru, 11,800 shillings in Nairobi, 11,250 shillings in Eldoret and 10,000 shillings in Kisumu.
