List of “New” Cabinet Secretaries Announced by Uhuru Kenyatta

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday announced the creation of creation of the position of Chief Administrative Secretary that see political rejects occupying various slots.
Some of the beneficiaries include former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba, former West Pokot Simon Kachapin and former Nairobi Woman Rep Rachael Shebesh.
Uhuru also nominated the former Public Service Commission Chairperson Margaret Kobia to head the Ministry of Public Service, Youth, and Gender Affairs, moved former Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohammed to the Education docket and former Water CS Eugene Wamalwa to the Ministry of Devolution.
Key among those nominated are Mwangi Kiunjuri, James Macharia, Sicily Kariuki and Adan Mohamed who will help the president in delivering his Big Four Action Plan.
President Uhuru Kenyatta pledged to dedicate his final term to achieving the “The Big Four Pillars”: food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare for all.
“The big four will help people create jobs, to new lives of comfort and well being. That is the big life I have foreseen,” he noted during the 54th Jamhuri Celebrations.

- Ministry of Defense – Rachel Omamo
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Monicah Juma
- Ministry of Youth and Gender – Margaret Kobia
- Ministry of Petroleum and Mining – John Munyes
- Ministry of Environment and Forestry – Keriako Tobiko
- Ministry of Information and Communication – Joe Mucheru
- Ministry of Health – Cecil Kariuki
- Ministry of Northern Community Development – Peter Munya
- Transport and Infrastructure – James Macharia
- Ministry of Tourism – Najib Balala
- Ministry of Water and Sanitization – Simon Cherugui
- Ministry of Lands – Farida Karoney
- Ministry of Industrialization – Aden Muhamed

In a raft of measures, the President ensured that nine cabinet secretaries who served in his first term were demoted and allocated Ambassadorial positions.
Mining CS Dan Kazungu will serve as Kenya’s ambassador to Tanzania, Lands CS Jacob Kaimenyi will be Kenya’s representative to UNESCO.
Labour CS Phylis Kandie will serve as Kenya’s ambassador to Belgium and the European Union.
Environment CS Judi Wakhungu will serve as the country’s ambassador to France, Sports CS Hassan Wario will be Kenya’s High Commissioner to Austria, Health CS Cleopha Mailu will Kenya’s permanent Rep to UN replacing Macharia Kamau who heads back home as Principal Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs while Agriculture CS Willy Bett will represent Kenya as High Commissioner to India.
