Jacob Zuma Resigns as South Africa’s President

Jacob Zuma, the President of South Africa has resigned following intense pressure from his own party to have him vacate office.

On Wednesday, Zuma had refused to leave office saying the ANC party was being unfair and said that he would resign in six months.

The party had planned to table a vote of no confidence motion in parliament later Thursday after he showed reluctance to leave power.

In a televised address to the nation, Zuma said he was a disciplined member of the ANC, to which he had dedicated his life.

“I fear no motion of no confidence or impeachment… I will serve the people of South Africa and the ANC. I will dedicate my life to continuing to work for the execution of the policies of our organization,” he said.
