Nairobi to Host Women for the 4th Annual Timeless Women’s Conference

Nairobi is set to hold the fourth Timeless Women’s Conference themed ‘Africa’s Enterprise Reformation’.

The 3-day event set for February 26^th-28^th will be bringing together key regional leaders among them Vice Presidents, Cabinet Ministers, and other Policymakers.

These women leaders and business professionals will be able to create dialogues on how to empower African women and leverage their social and economic skills to harness their full potential for Africa’s growth.

The conference will also include more than 20 innovative sessions led by notable experts; exciting keynote addresses, informative issues forums and opportunities to network with hundreds of professionals who are contributing to Africa’s development.

“We are committed to building equitable partnerships and platforms that advocate for strength-based support for women-led businesses and enterprises in Africa,” said Nyakan Munyeki, Founder, and CEO, Timeless Women of Wonder.

Munyeki added that this year’s conference will be an opportunity for women in Africa to discuss and address and action on the pressing issues that will impact Africa’s growth.

The event presents a paradigm shift in the areas of Africa’s women leadership, emphasizing on the action in unlocking the many business opportunities that Africa has to offer for women.

Kirimi Kinoti- Christian AID- Head of Africa Division emphasized on the need for women in Africa to be a part of the development agendas like Agenda 2063.

“The issue of women being part of the development agenda is important. Women need to be in actors in economic development and influencers of the 2063 agenda across Africa,” said Ms. Kinoti.

Access to women-friendly financing and education has been a major hindrance to women playing a part in Africa’s development.

Speaking at the same conference, Ms. Laura Akunga, CEO Benchmark Solutions noted that women need to be educated about financial opportunities available for economic growth and empowerment. She also noted that intra-Africa trade is key in opening up markets for African countries to exchange commodities.

“Africa needs to move from a job-seeking continent to a job creation continent,” said Ms. Akunga.  “Every year, thousands of students leave university across Africa which is overwhelming on the job market; we need to focus on job creation.”
