Safaricom Changes name in compliance with new laws

Safaricom will no longer be known as Safaricom Limited but Safaricom PLC in compliance with Section 53 of the Companies Act, 2015.

The name was changed with effect from 31^st of January, 2018 in a move that will see other companies follow suit to comply with the Act.

Section 53 of the Companies Act states that a company that is both a limited company as well as a public company may only be registered with a name ending with ‘public limited company’ hence, Safaricom is now Safaricom Public Limited Company.
