Kenya Makes the list of the Unhappiest Countries

The UN World Happiness Report 2018 has listed Kenya as the 124^th country on the list of 156 unhappiest countries around the world.

At this position, Kenya is ahead of the other East African countries with Uganda in position 135, Sudan 137, Rwanda 151, Tanzania 153 and South Sudan ranked the 154^th. Out of the 156 countries listed, Burundi came the last.

In general, Kenya, and East Africa, according to the report, are the unhappiest people in the world. Countries like Malawi, Liberia, and the Central Republic were also ranked low on the list.

That said, the happiest country in the world is Finland. It was followed by Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland in that order.

The criteria used in the ranking was based on the income, freedom, trust, generosity, healthy life expectancy, and social support of the people in each country.

The ultimate rankings of the country’s happiness were based on the results pooled from the survey done by Gallup World Poll done between 2015 and 2017. The poll asked people to evaluate various aspects of their lives on a scale from 0 to 10.

Kenya was ranked 112^th out of 155 countries and position 122 globally in the 2016 report. One of the changes made in this year’s report included the point of view of migrants in each country.
