Market Turnover at the Bourse Declines As Shilling Holds Tight Against the Dollar

Market turnover at the bourse declined 15.1 percent to USD 8.22 million (KES 831.9 MN) from yesterday’s trading.

The NSE 20 gained 0.17 percent to close at 3,767.23 while NASI declined 0.38 percent to close at 182.88.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 49.0 percent of total market sales and 48.2 percent of total market purchases.

The Kenyan shilling rejuvenated back by gaining traction against the US Dollar and the Sterling Pound but weakened against the Euro.

Against the US Dollar, the Kenyan Shilling strengthened 0.01 from Wednesday’s level to 101.26 shillings to the dollar.

Against the Sterling Pound, the Kenyan Shilling strengthened 0.53 percent from Wednesday’s level to 140.68 shillings to the pound.

However, against the Euro, the Kenya Shilling weakened 0.19 percent from Wednesday’s level to 124.87 shillings to the Euro.

On the EAC Markets, in Rwanda, the RSI and RASI remained at 134.02 and 133.28 respectively while Uganda: The USE ALSI rose 1.11 percent while USE LCI dropped 0.07 percent to close at 2,118.15 and 393.72.
