Shilling Weakens Slightly Against the Dollar but Still Resilient

The Kenyan shilling weakened slightly against the US Dollar by 0.07 percent but still at its highest point of 100.05 shillings to the dollar on Wednesday.

Against the Sterling Pound, the local currency went down slightly by 0.10 percent from Tuesday’s level to 139.74 shillings to the pound.

Against the Euro, the Shilling strengthened 0.04 percent from Tuesday’s level to 122.32 shillings to the Euro.

Kenyan Stock Market

The market turnover at the bourse rose 9.1 percent to USD 11.37 million or an equivalent of 1,137.8 million shillings from Tuesday’s trading.

NSE 20 declined 0.07 percent to close at 3,694.74 while NASI gained 0.32 percent to close at 180.54.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 86.1% of total market sales and 60.9 percent of total market purchases.

EAC Markets   

In Rwanda, the RSI and RASI held constant at 132.59 and 133.08 respectively while in Uganda, the USE ALSI and USE LCI gained 0.31 percent and 0.26 percent to close at 2,199.65 and 413.48 respectively.
