Super Petrol Down by 63 Cents: Is There Anything To Smile About?

The Energy Regulatory Commission has announced new fuel prices for the period between 15th of April and 15th of May.

In a statement, ERC has reduced the price of Super Petrol by 63 cents, that of Kerosene by 73 cents while the price of Diesel has remained unchanged.

In Nairobi, a litre of Super Petrol will retail at 106.83 shillings while that of Diesel will go for 97.86 shillings.

A litre of kerosene, on the other hand, will retail at 76.72 shillings.

ERC has attributed the current prices to varying landed costs for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene.

The landed cost of Super Petrol reduced by 1.05 percent, that of Diesel by 0.59 percent while that of Kerosene went down by 0.69 percent.

Kenyans have however dismissed the reduction saying it has no impact on the economy as prices of commodities continue to rise.

In March, ERC increased fuel prices, hitting an all-time high in 40 months with consumers feeling the heat.
