Kenya has been hosting the Pro Game Series competition for teens and adults at Sarit Centre for the last two years with winners bagging between 150,000 shillings and 1 million shillings.

A few years back, video gaming was typically for social engagement with friendly duels and bets involved, it is also now mobile and online.

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers 2017-2022 report, the video gaming industry in Kenya was worth $44 million (4.4 billion shillings)  in 2013 and is expected to triple (22.4 percent increment) by 2020.

Globally, gaming generated a total of $108 billion (109 trillion shillings) in revenue in 2017 and $137 billion expected in 2018.

The biggest engine behind the growth of online gaming in Kenya has been the establishment of high-speed internet infrastructure, allowing gamers to watch and compete with each other across the country and the globe.

Computer and console gaming have both gained momentum in the recent past, with video gaming spots popular with teens being opened up in most suburbs and shopping centers countrywide.

At the end of the day, workaholic parents need to spend quality time with their kids through video gaming.

A research paper by Isabela Granic, Adam Lobel, and Rutger C. M. E. Engels, entitled ‘The Benefits of Playing Video Games’ argues that intergenerational video game play could have a positive impact on their adolescent development and long-term family outcomes through togetherness.

The paper claims that gamers are able to develop socializing skills, creativity, and emotional intelligence.

“We as parents miss out a lot when we walk away from playing video games with our kids. This is because we may not understand that many video games are to be shared, through which they get to learn about science, literacy and problem-solving.

At the same time, you get to know about them on a psychological level. Through our OLED TV sets, gamers are able to get the best experiences,” says Moses Marji LG Marketing Manager.

In the era of smart TVs, LG has a wide array of products that suit gamers through OLED sets with LG OLED C7 being recommended. One of the sleekest screens on their line-up, it has the narrowest of black frames around the screen’s edge, giving it a picture on wall appearance. In terms of connectivity, four HDMI inputs (all of which, impressively, can handle full-bandwidth 4K HDR signals), three USBs and both Wi-Fi and Ethernet network options.

It has graphically rich, incredibly straightforward and logical interface within its layout, easily customizable, slick to navigate and sensibly focused on the sort of TV-centric apps most users actually want a TV to deliver.
