Shilling Retracts Slightly against the Dollar but still Resilient

The Kenyan shilling slightly retracted against the US Dollar but still resilient against the some analyst’s projections.

Against the US Dollar, the Kenyan Shilling weakened 0.20 percent from Wednesday’s level to 100.80. On a year-to-date basis, the shillings is still strong by 2.4 percent against the dollar.

Against the Sterling Pound, the Kenyan Shilling weakened 0.35 percent from Wednesday’s level to 135.42. The local currency is still strong against the pound by 2.4 percent on a year-to-date basis.

Against the Euro, the Kenya Shilling weakened 0.37 percent from Wednesday’s level to 118.73. The shilling is 0.37 stronger against the Euro on a year-to-date basis.

Kenyan Stock Market

The market turnover at the bourse rose 35.1 percent to USD 7.66 million or an equivalent of 772.5 million shillings from Wednesday’s trading.

NSE 20 and NASI declined 0.33 percent and 0.62 percent to close at 3,433.56 and 177.04 respectively.
