Following a public outcry, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has suspended Moi Girls principal in the ongoing crackdown against rape at the school.

A 15-year-old girl is said to have been raped within the school, reports that have been confirmed by medical practitioners.

The rape came barely a year after 11 girls in the same school died after a fire consumed the dormitory they were in.

The board of management has also been dissolved in a raft of measures to improve security at the school.

Earlier on, the school Principal Mrs. Jael Mureithi also opted for early retirement over the saga. She was to retire in 2019.
