Kenyans are always online, either chatting with friends across social media platforms or just browsing for information here and there.
With a mobile penetration of more than 90 percent and an internet penetration of 112 percent, according to stats released by Communication Authority of Kenya, the country is skyrocketing in terms of internet consumption.
Kenyans are known to be social media enthusiasts with such platforms as WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook ruling the internet. Kenyans on Twitter are known as #KOT or simply Kenyans on Twitter, using the platform to articulate various issues from political to economic.
Stats show that at least 1,000,000 Kenyans are on Twitter, though some analysts say that the numbers might be higher.
Nendo, a Nairobi-based digital consultancy has released top 10 desktop websites that Kenyans are always visiting. What is interesting about these websites is that Kenyans are visiting adult content sites and the gambling sites more than any other site.
Here are the top 10 desktop websites according to Nendo:
Of the top 10 websites Kenyans visit the most, three are gambling sites; Betin, SportPesa, and Betpawa. Two are for adult content; Xvideos and Xnxx. Some Kenyans have, however, been wondering why WhatsApp is not among the top websites in Kenya. Perhaps it is because most people access it through an app on their mobile phones.
