How to Send Money Between T-Kash and M-PESA

Mobile money interoperability was announced in March 2018 and the integration has greatly shaped and enhanced customer experiences and related transactions significantly.

The ability to send money from one mobile operator to a different one was everyone’s dream all along. In October, Safaricom and Telkom Kenya announced that customers could easily transfer cash between M-PESA and T-kash.

Well, it came at no extra cost and as the second phase of mobile interoperability, what more could you wish for? Telkom Kenya now allows you to send money to Safaricom and Airtel lines through a few simple steps.

But, how do you transfer cash between Telkom’s T-kash, Airtel Money and Safaricom’s M-PESA?

First of all, you must be registered for either T-kash, Airtel Money or M-PESA for you to enjoy the interoperability. When that is out of the way, here is how you go about it.

Transferring money from T-Kash to other networks; Airtel Money or M-PESA

The procedure is simple! Sending money to M-Pesa/Airtel Money from T-Kash is the same a sending money to another T-kash Customer.

  1. First, navigate to your T-kash Menu.
  2. Click on Send Money.
  3. Then select to Mobile.
  4. Choose Enter Phone Number
  5. Enter the M-Pesa or Airtel Money Phone Number you want to send money to.
  6. Confirm Name of Recipient.
  7. Enter your PIN to confirm the Transaction.

That’s all. Now, how do you send money from your Safaricom line to a Telkom number?

Follow these steps to send money from M-Pesa to T-kash.

  1. Dial the USSD code *234# from your Safaricom Line.
  2. Select Option “1” titled “M-Pesa Products”.
  3. Choose Option “98” titled “MORE”.
  4. Then select Option “8” titled “M-Pesa Tuma Popote”.
  5. Enter T-kash Phone Number you want to send money to.
  6. Confirm Name of Recipient.
  7. Enter PIN to confirm Transaction.
